Hi im not a gamer at all. I dont really care too much for any type of game. I am an avid casual XBOX 360 gamer.
I am also a member of a local XBOX gamers group and several of our members have modded classic XBOXes. For what you describe I would have to say that the modded classic XBOX might be the system for your car project. Another pt that i should have brought up is that my xbox has a messed up dvd tray and wont play dvd moviesso to get a new one will cost me 50 bucks and now im bouncing around if itd be worth to spend the 50 bucks to get mine working better or to switch over to the xboxthanks for the advice though cgbolton; that actually helped me ALOT.
I didnt know that the 360 spun faster, or needed more air (i guess no glovebox install) and the lower power requirement will help me alot (youre right; alot of goodies there)and i guess the mp3 player connect was a small issue because i already have a headphone jack connection for my mp3 playerthe ripping dvds and cds to the harddrive is a great feature and i was barely even considering that facti think ill just swap my tray with a friend's and then do the installthanks again cgbolton. Good luck with your project.
One additional piece of advice. If your friend's XBOX is still working I would leave it be and get yourself over to your local Freecycle.org site and post a WANTED for a burned out XBOX that you can cannibalize the DVD-ROM drive from. I'm sure there is someone in your area with a dead XBOX collecting dust in the back of their closet and with Freecycle you don't spend a cent to obtain it.I have picked up several XBOXes and PS2 systems that way. Unfortunately I don't have any right now or I'd offer you what I had.Take Care,Chris. As you seem to really know alot about xboxs; do you know if it is safe to play a dvd through an xbox while the xbox is vertical.attaching the system to the back of my rear seat seems like an ideal location and now im not sure if itll be safe for the dvdspositioned in a way so the tray opens downward.
The actual seats folds down; so for most instances it will be folded down while being used but in instances when i have 4 ppl in the car; the seat will have to be up and then im not sure how 'correct' that will be. Since the drive is basically a standard PC DVD-ROM it's designed to be used in a horizontal aspect however it is stable enough to use vertically provided there isn't a lot of vibration. The same is true with the XBOX 360. Both drives spin a fairly high rates of speed (I don't know the actual RPM numbers off the top of my head) and because of this a vertically oriented drive is more likely to scratch a disc if jarred or bumped. It would have been nice if Microsoft put a laptop style drive in the 360 so it would be much safer to use in applications such as yours but alas they did not.I also read the post from Wolfster and I don't disagree with his points. I just think that since you have the modded XBOX and if you can replace the DVD-ROM at a minimal expense that you should go that route. Later on if you decide to upgrade then a 360 might be the way to go. I would like to point out that, though that Wolfster says his 360 doesn't overheat, he also goes on to say that he doesn't use it on carpet.
He obviously understands the necessity of adequate ventilation. The 360 does generate considerably more heat and if you were to install one in your glove box or under a seat you would need to make sure you also installed additional ventilation in order to avoid overheating it. The PS2 and original XBOX units don't run so hot so this is not as much of a concern. Hello,I've had the modded xbox for over 4 years now, upgraded once and am sitting on a 250 gig hdd. I used it to store movies, for gameplay and as a dvd player. I still like it because I can play import titles without a problem, can download torrents and then reformat them to the xbox directly off the computer - which you could still do after instal if you have a laptop.
However, all of that being said, if you don't give a. about import titles, or if you are considering modding the 360 - which is already on its way, then I say the 360 is far superior.
Sure the original xbox hits 480p, but the 360 goes up to 720p, which you already know. The interface is far superior, quicker, beautiful, untuitive to anyone who enters or comes in contact with it. I have a portable hard drive which I run off the usb, hook it up to the 360 and use the 300 gigs of music, videos, films that I download or purchase and burn to the hdd. Or even without the hdd the dvd player inside the 360 is visualy superior as well as the audio decoder.
If I have the power off and hit eject to turn on it acts like it's trying to play but no signal. It runs otherwise. All I want out of it is to play backup games off a big hard drive internal or external. Now I need a modded 360 and don't know my best option. Send this in to a service shop that mods or just buy a pre modded one. Xbox 360 E RGH. $63.99 PS4 Send In Service. $55.00 Call Of Duty 4. $5.00 Call Of Duty WAW. $10.00 Xbox One send In. $45.99 MW3 edition slim RGH. Want your xbox modded? Or a recovery done or even just a mod menu just buy from here I sell pretty good stuff at a decent price. Pretty soon I will be available for donation so if you would like to.
The controllers are a better feel, more powerful feedback. Out of the box, without modding it shares many of the feautures of a modded box with waranty still intact, and even offers a few more. And if you at all are considering playing the games, well then there is no contest. Don't get me wrong, I loved the original, sure the good titles aren't easy to find sometimes, but I'm sitting on sixty must haves. AS for the 360, I own six and there are about 12 must haves so far.
Pay no attention to the websites. These games are under a lot of pressure and are being judged rather harshly at times. The visuals are at times amazing - I mean that. You won't believe your eyes. Plus they've tried something novel this time around, beyond the inovative audio encoding, the uped graphics, particle effects, field of vision, crazy lighting, etc. That being, these games are actually fun.
Oh, and by the way, don't listen to any of those overheating issues, its no worse that my ps2, xbox, gamecube, dreamcast, or any other system I played oblivion for 16 hours straight, while downloading demos - no a single problem. It never got hotter.
Then again, I don't keep it on the carpet because I'm not trying to break it so I can then go blog about how. microsoft is either. I hope this helps bud, take care.
This XMOD Controller uses the RT to fire your weapon. Simply choose the speed you are more satisfied with and push the trigger to fire.It comes by default with 6 pre-programmed speeds, but you can easily add up to 10 speeds, or you can even disable them leaving just 2 active speeds.Every speed is adjustable. This allows versatility across shooters, and also with future games. All modes rotate in a circle, but for quick access to the desired mode you can step forward and backward quickly and easily.User Programmable Speeds. The controller can remember up to 10 different Rapid Fire speeds in 'shots per second'.This feature gives you the freedom to easily make your own speed. You can slow down automatic weapons to pinpoint precision or even speed single shot weapons to unreal speeds.Speed adjustments are made directly from the controller, no need to hook up to a computer to change the settings.During the programming process, you can check the speed in real game by pressing the Right Trigger at any time, to see how your weapon responds to it.Jitter Modes. Jitter it’s a glitch of some Call of Duty games. The Jitter mode takes advantage of this game glitch allowing you to to shoot faster than normal with some weapons that do not work with regular rapid fire. With the Jitter mode the accuracy is decreased, due to limited ability to aim down the sights. You can solve the aim problem by enabling the LT CANCELLATION option. With this function(enabled by default), when you press the LEFT Trigger to aim down, the weapon will fire with regular rapid fire and automatically back to Jitter when the LEFT TRIGGER is released.Drop Shot. With quick scope, as soon as you look down the sight by holding LT, the XMOD Controller will automatically hold your breath for you to steady your aim, which you would usually have to click in the left thumb stick to do and then fire shortly after. As well as the rapid fire speed, the timing (shoot delay) of the Quick Scope can be fully adjusted.Note: With this function when you push the RIGHT TRIGGER (RT) only, you will aim and shoot 'QUICK AIM' (with or without Rapid Fire), all in one action.Sniper Breath.
Akimbo Mimic modes allow you to control dual-wielded guns with only one fire trigger (RT) instead of using two triggers.Trigger copy with or without rapid fire for all Call of Duty series. When dual wielding or using akimbo, holding RT will rapid fire both pistols. With this mode you are able to aim with LT: When LT is held, the controller shoots like normal (with or without Rapid Fire) and automatically back to Akimbo mode when LT is released. Perfect setup for using any fully automatic primary and dual pistols.LT Cancel. This feature can be activated with the Drop Shot, Kneel Shot and Jump Shot functions. With this function, when you push the LEFT TRIGGER (LT), the Drop/Kneel/Jump Shot will be temporarily canceled/disabled and you will fire with or without REGULAR Rapid Fire. This will let you stay behind a barrier or window aiming down the sight and shoot without dropping/kneeling/jumping.The selected Special Function will be automatically enabled as soon as the LEFT TRIGGER (LT) is released. Fast blinking of the LED1 will indicate: LT Cancellation enabled.Aim Cancellation. This option can be activated with the Drop Shot, Kneel Shot and Jump Shot functions.By default those functions will automatically quick aim and shoot while dropping, jumping or kneeling. For example, if you want to fire from the hip while jumping, you must turn the auto aim off (aim cancellation) for the Jump Shot function. You can do that on the fly by entering in”Special Function” and then hold down the RIGHT Trigger and Tap the LEFT trigger.
Repeat the same actions to toggle the AIM Cancellation on/off.This option will be kept in the modchip’s memory, even if you take the battery out.Beeper Indicator.
